Congratulations, Mr. Tom Copeland!

Mr. Copeland recently received the endorsement of the Professional Firefighters and Paramedics of Palm Beach County Local 2928 which is significant and today Copeland received the endorsement of The Palm Beach Post which is less significant but can definitely be a factor in the four-man race in Lake Worth’s District 4 race this year.

But after the election on March 12th — when the two highest vote-getters face off in the run-off election two weeks later on March 26th, likely Copeland and incumbent Commissioner Herman Robinson — beyond that is when all the fun and excitement ends and the hard work begins.

However, after being elected and before getting down to the hard work of governing is a brief period of time called “The Adoration” when everyone still loves you.

For example, let’s examine the case of former District 4 Commissioner Ryan Maier in June 2015. . .

. . . when shortly thereafter the adoration ended.

And then later Commissioner Maier opted not to run for re-election in 2017.

A lesson for everyone on the ballot this year.

The Adoration period is a short one.
