Food Distribution this Tuesday 3/31/20
If you recently lost your job or cannot access food due to Covid – 19, the Lake Worth Beach CRA, LULA – Lake Worth Arts and the City of Lake Worth Beach have partnered to bring you a car-only food distribution site on Tuesday, March 31 at Hatch 1121. Due to the virus, only cars will be served at this location. For the health of the volunteers, PBSO and your fellow Lake Worthians, please do not walk or bike to this event. Any crowds that form, no matter how small, could jeopardize providing food to our in-need families. Information on other opportunities for food pick up will be made available through Feeding South Florida. LULA Lake Worth Arts will also be distributing crayons and children’s activities to families with children. All items will be placed in the trunk of your car. Cars will be served, beginning at 9am at the entrance of Hatch (1121 Lucerne) on the Lake Avenue side of the lot. Do not try to enter the lot from Lucerne. Cars who try to enter from Lucerne will be turned away. The event will end at 11am or when supplies run out.
If possible, we ask that you support our local restaurants. A list of restaurants that serve take out or delivery are listed at this link. CRA Staff are updating this information when provided. To subscribe to our newsletter, please click here.

Just a quick update from your local PBSO District:
· While our lobby is closed, PBSO is otherwise fully operational. Citizens can call in non-emergencies at 688-3400 use 911 for emergencies. Our LWB number 586-1611 is available Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for matters which were previously handled by walk in.
· Records can be obtained through e-mail at emailcentralrecords@pbso.org
· In my daily patrols of the city I am seeing much more compliance with the closures and social distancing. Most open businesses are operating safely. Thank you!
· Yesterday we arrested the infamous graffiti suspect who uses the tag “Feral” again. This time he stole two of our graffiti surveillance cameras. He was charged with two counts of grand theft. We are working with the State Attorney’s Office to see that he receives a proper sentence. You can find more information on this on our PBSO “Busted” flyer on social media.
· Keep an eye out for suspicious activity – Crime has been slow since this started but I am sure criminals will look to take advantage as this progresses.
· Scams – There are several scams related to the COVID 19 epidemic. More on this can be found on our social media pages. Be careful of unusual e-mails and phone calls from those claiming to be from agencies such as the CDC, WHO etc. Also, none of them will be going door to door so call us if someone knocks and claims to be with one of these agencies.
· In person census activities have been suspended so call if anyone knocks on your door claiming to be from the census.
· A couple of our local schools are feeding the children twice a day (Highland Elementary and LW High School).
We will get through this by working together,
Be safe,

Important Greater Lantana Chamber of Commerce Announcement
In this tough business environment, the Chamber stands ready to provide any assistance we can to help your businesses get through it as well as possible.
The Town Manager of Lantana and the City Manager of Lake Worth Beach have asked us for guidance as to how they might relax restrictions temporarily.
We’ve suggested to Lantana that they suspend enforcement of sign regulations so that businesses can put out signs or banners advertising that they are open, or that restaurants are open for takeout and delivery.
Lake Worth Beach is open to allowing restaurants to have a dedicated parking space in front of their establishments to allow customers to have easier access for the same purposes.
If you have any ideas as to what Lantana and Lake Worth Beach might further do to help our small businesses, please email your suggestions to info@lantanachamber.com
The Board of Directors hope that you, your family and your employees stay healthy and safe. And remember to wash your hands!
Best wishes,
David Arm
President

City of Lake Worth Beach - Announcement on Bryant Park Boat Ramp Closing
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, effective immediately, the County Mayor and PBSO have ordered the City of Lake Worth Beach to close the Bryant Park Boat Ramp until further notice. Access will continue to be provided for those currently on the water to return to their vehicles but no further vessels may be launched at this time.
For more information on closures within the City please click here.
(Editors note: I took a bike ride yesterday through Lake Worth Beach. Right after I left my house, I saw three cars in a row headed north with canoes on their roof. It was about 5:15 p.m. They probably spent the day on the Intracoastal Waterway/Lake Worth Lagoon and were headed back home to West Palm Beach. The thought immediately dawned on me, "What a good idea for open air exercise." Later on during the ride, I heard racing of motorboat engines off to the east and then I thought to myself, "That sounds a little lawless to me." Then I wondered how many people were on the water, partying and practicing some reckless abandon as a stress reliever. Apparently, PBSO and others want to focus their efforts on the emergency we face than patrol the waterways. Or at least restrict access to it in the form of one access point. I wonder if other boat ramps are closing?)
