The City Commission meeting on 10/6 started off on a good note and then reverted to the same old nonsense by commissioners Chris McVoy and Ryan Maier as they've been coached in their role as obstructionists. Here are two excerpts:
The City Commission chambers in Lake Worth was the warmest and fuzziest place in town Tuesday night [10/8]. The chambers were full of delightful things happening. There was the graduation from lineman school for Marcus Neal, a Lake Worth Utilities employee. Then there was a beautiful framed magazine article presented to the City by the Director of Golf Chris Fletcher. And lo and behold, a group of youngsters who sold $875 worth of their artwork on the NAPC Front Porch during Evening on the Avenues Friday evening to raise money to buy books for their school and promote Literacy.
Yes, there was decorum in the chambers, a pleasant atmosphere, not a common occurrence.
Then, after the pleasantries, and the participants left the room, it was back to business as usual.
[and. . .]
Elected officials who take what 10 or 12 people say,
especially when they are the same people every time,
as a barometer of the entire electorate are doing the
public a disservice.
It is hard to fathom that every citizen who feels
one way only speaks to one or two of the commissioners,
and those who feel another way speak to one or
two other commissioners. Some commissioners only
hear constituents who they agree with. Never has a
commissioner said, ”I’ve had several calls about this
matter and half of them said one thing and the other
half said the other. . .” No, all you ever hear from them
is “I’ve had a lot of calls and they all in agreement.”
Hogwash.
Hogwash.
Stop sitting at the dais and telling the residents lies.
Grow up and govern, sincerely, honestly and in the
best interests of the ENTIRE city.
