A real doozy of a "Correction" in the Palm Beach Post

One of the hazards of print publishing is once that paper goes out the door, that's it. There's no going back. Joel Engelhardt is a true journalist, a professional in a field of a dwindling number. However, even professionals like Joel Engelhardt aren't immune to an error now and then. Mr. Englehardt made an error in Wednesday's paper, 1/28/15; the Palm Beach Post and Mr. Engelhardt were quick to offer a "Correction".

Imagine the surprise when Shannon LaRoque, an Assistant County Administrator read this in Wednesday's paper:
" 'The city was being proactive by recognizing that a comprehensive condition assessment needs to be done on that plant [East Central Regional Sewer plant] so we move from being reactive instead of proactive, [Shannon] LaRocque said."
I can see Ms. LaRocque at her breakfast nook reading that Wednesday morning article in the Post and spitting out her morning muffin and coffee halfway across the house. Obviously, this was an error and the Palm Beach Post was quick to correct it. Here is what Ms. Shannon LaRoque actually said, that the Palm Beach Post corrected in the next day's print edition:
" 'The city was being proactive by recognizing that a comprehensive condition assessment needs to be done on that plant so we move from being reactive to proactive [Shannon LaRocque said]."
For those of you needing a primer: here is the definition of "proactive" according to Dictionary.com:

Adjective: serving to prepare for, intervene in, or control an expected occurrence or situation, especially a negative or difficult one; anticipatory

Everyone, Ms. Shannon LaRoque especially, appreciates the swift correction. And to the family of Herminio Padilla Jr., his passing was a terrible tragedy. My condolences to your family.
