This is the area between 6th Avenue South and Lake Worth Road, essentially the area that is made up of the bridge over the Lake Worth High School parking lot. "The Florida Department of Transportation is installing the “high friction epoxy overlay” surface because of a study that found there were 148 crashes on the bridge from 2008-10, with 70 percent of them related to wet conditions.
“That is a significant number,’’ said Gilbert Soles, a DOT Safety Project Manager.
Soles said the DOT also did visual studies that found an unusually high number of vehicles changing lanes along that stretch of highway."
