UPDATE: What and who the Sunshine Law covers—Lake Worth City Attorney Glen Torcivia (13-min video) and another special treat!

UPDATE: Note that Commissioner McVoy is doubling down on his lies about Sunshine Law violations that never happened. Now he's spreading a letter throughout the community that's cleverly written, to say the least. Check back later for more on that.
This will anger a lot of people and partly that's what McVoy is trying to do. DON'T GET ANGRY! Do the opposite, stay calm, get involved and get out there and help Mayor Triolo, Vice Mayor Maxwell, and Commissioner Amoroso get re-elected. Partly what McVoy is trying to do is depress voter turnout by making people angry and disgusted who then decide to ignore everything going on. That's what a lot of people do when they see their elected leaders acting irresponsibly: they stop getting involved.

Don't fall for it. What can you do today? Here is an idea.

So, without further ado, read about the nonsense that McVoy pulled almost exactly a year ago today prior to elections in Lake Worth last year:

The Sunshine Law has to be explained once again because a certain commissioner, Chris McVoy, is trying to confuse the public, again. He did the same thing in the two weeks prior to the elections last March (2015). Here is what happened: Mayor Pam Triolo, Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell, and Commissioner Andy Amoroso are racking up the endorsements including a lot of very high profile ones. One of those endorsements scheduled a BBQ at Sunset Ridge Park last Sunday, 2/28.

A lot of people showed up and everybody had a good time. Everything was done right. The park was paid for, and for the time the park was available the candidates put up signs and greeted visitors and campaign supporters. This was NOT a government meeting. It was a campaign event. Period.

Anyhow, McVoy was spotted slinking around the edge of the park taking pictures. If he wanted to he could have joined the event and had a free lunch. But he chose not to. No one was turned away and everyone was welcome. Here is McVoy taking off after he was greeted by one of the attendees:
The Lake Worth City Attorney Glen Torcivia has an excellent summation of the Sunshine Law (video below) and it is highly recommended viewing for anyone interested in learning more about this issue.

No Sunshine Law was violated by having a BBQ in a public park where no City business was conducted. But McVoy is throwing out the bait again and chumming the waters about Sunshine Law violations, this time making false accusations at three elected officials who also happen to be up for re-election. If you recall, one of the editors at The Palm Beach Post took the bait and ran with it last year. I'll have more on that in a day or two. Suffice to say, for now, it was political theater, or "Wag the Dog" tactics created to manipulate an election here in Lake Worth.

Again, the accusations made about Sunshine Law violations in last year's election cycle by McVoy were never followed up with any formal complaint whatsoever. It was all for show. And now the show begins in Lake Worth again. Two weeks prior to election day. (Make sure to watch McVoy in the video at the end of this blog post!)

Watch this short summation on the Sunshine Law:

The video below is quite interesting. If you're short on time fast forward to the 1:00 mark and see what Commissioner McVoy does when all the other elected officials are not in the room. He was unaware that during breaks at City Commission meetings the sound is turned off but the video keeps on recording. Hope you enjoy the music that accompanies the action!
