College Park is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with our friends from the Eden Place, Mango Groves and Parrot Cove Neighborhood Associations in sponsoring a Candidate Forum on Monday, September 24th. The forum will be held at our regular meeting place, the First Congregational Church, 1415 North K Street from 6 - 9 PM.
Candidates Christopher McVoy and James Stafford are on the November ballot for the District 2 Commission Seat. They have agreed to participate and will answer questions submitted by those in attendance at the meeting. No questions will be submitted in advance of the meeting. John Szerdi, the unopposed candidate for the District 4 seat will participate by making a statement and all Candidates have agreed to remain after the Forum for a Social Hour during which Residents will have the opportunity to speak with candidates directly.
Everyone is invited to attend and submit questions for the candidates, but preference will be given to those questions from Residents of the four sponsoring Neighborhood Associations in attendance that night. Representatives from each of the 4 Neighborhood Associations will select questions from those submitted and may combine duplicate questions or eliminate any questions they deem inappropriate. Once again this year, our neighbor, John Paxman has agreed to serve as Moderator for the Forum.
Campaign literature, brochures, palm cards, t-shirts etc. are permitted, however no candidate yard signs may be placed on Church Property or brought into the Fellowship Hall. This Forum will be conducted with mutual regard for all the common courtesies and respect our candidates and neighbors deserve. Neighborhood Assosciations do not take a position and neither endorse nor oppose any candidate. Our mission is to provide the opportunity for Neighbors to become well informed on matters of consequence to us all.
A reminder that ALL Lake Worth voters are eligible to vote for all Commission seats, regardless of where they live in the City of Lake Worth. Information regarding the new precincts and new polling places as well as information about absentee and early voting in the November General Election will be distributed at the meeting.
After the question and answer period and closing statements from the Candidates for District 2, everyone is invited to remain for a social hour at which light refreshments and an array of goodies, generously donated by Kilwin's will be served. Many of our local businesses have donated fabulous door prizes and these will be awarded during that time. Winners must be present for the drawing to receive a door prize. So please save the date and please feel free to share this information with our friends and neighbors all over Lake Worth who may not be on our email distribution list.
