The science of decision-making

Interesting discussion on Public Radio International's "The World" program. Click title for link. It's about how humans tend to discount reality if it conflicts with our already accepted world-view. Many times we are reluctant to acknowledge what is another reality from the one that we have crafted. They talk about "false consensus" and how Obama uses a "team of rivals" approach to maximize dissonance. This has implications locally, for sure.

There is a more detailed discussion on a related podcast.
