Many agencies are experiencing increased calls from households concerned about making mortgage payments due to COVID-19 related financial hardship. The Sun Sentinel has a great article on this subject but the most important information to give any homeowner is the following:
Homeowners must contact their servicers and let them know they cannot make your payment due to a COVID-19 related hardship. Servicers will not assume anything so they must let them know otherwise loans will be become delinquent. Most servicer websites will give multiple options for making contact.
Homeowners should know who owns (backs) their loan. Homeowners can check on Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae online or check with their mortgage company. And Credit Counseling Agencies can provide assistance - they are used to dealing with mortgage questions and contacting servicers so call them for assistance.

2020 Quick Hospitality Covid-19 Emergency Grant - Lake Worth Beach CRA
In an effort to help stabilize local hospitality businesses currently open and operating within the CRA District due to effects from COVID-19, the Lake Worth Beach CRA is offering a Quick Action Emergency grant program. Although Federal funding is available through the SBDC, many of our small, local businesses are struggling to keep employees and must work around increasingly restrictive requirements.
Local, small, for-profit businesses with between 3-20 full time employee’s (FTE’s) can apply on-line for up to $2,500 (in $500 increments) in working capital grants. Our goal is to fund businesses that require face-to-face interaction with customers and have been severely impacted by the virus.

Michael Moore Presents: Planet of the Humans | Full Documentary | Directed by Jeff Gibbs
Michael Moore presents Planet of the Humans, a documentary that dares to say what no one else will this Earth Day — that we are losing the battle to stop climate change on planet earth because we are following leaders who have taken us down the wrong road — selling out the green movement to wealthy interests and corporate America. This film is the wake-up call to the reality we are afraid to face: that in the midst of a human-caused extinction event, the environmental movement’s answer is to push for techno-fixes and band-aids. It's too little, too late.
Removed from the debate is the only thing that MIGHT save us: getting a grip on our out-of-control human presence and consumption. Why is this not THE issue? Because that would be bad for profits, bad for business. Have we environmentalists fallen for illusions, “green” illusions, that are anything but green, because we’re scared that this is the end—and we’ve pinned all our hopes on biomass, wind turbines, and electric cars?
No amount of batteries are going to save us, warns director Jeff Gibbs (lifelong environmentalist and co-producer of “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine"). This urgent, must-see movie, a full-frontal assault on our sacred cows, is guaranteed to generate anger, debate, and, hopefully, a willingness to see our survival in a new way—before it’s too late.
Featuring: Al Gore, Bill McKibben, Richard Branson, Robert F Kennedy Jr., Michael Bloomberg, Van Jones, Vinod Khosla, Koch Brothers, Vandana Shiva, General Motors, 350.org, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sierra Club, the Union of Concerned Scientists, Nature Conservancy, Elon Musk, Tesla.
Music by: Radiohead, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Blank & Jones, If These Trees Could Talk, Valentina Lisitsa, Culprit 1, Patrick O’hearn, The Torquays, Nigel Stanford, and many more.

Weekly PBSO Update - 04-21-20 - District 14 - City of Lake Worth Beach
Hopefully everyone is doing as well as can be expected. Here are a few updates from your local PBSO District:
· Please encourage friends and neighbors to go online and complete their census forms. I did mine in about ten minutes. You do not have to have the code that was mailed out. These census numbers will be here for ten years and affect many parts of life.
· Our district has no personnel out with Covid 19 or awaiting test results.
· The food distribution at the CRA - Hatch Center is going well. I believe they are giving food to 700 + families per week in LWB. The volunteers have been awesome.
· Social distancing continues to look good in the city.
· Last week’s crime report was about the same as the week before – busy. Calls for service are up due to the pandemic and the unrelated crime. Auto burglaries and robberies to persons continued to be a problem. Half of the robberies were drug related. Other violent crime was down and arrests were up for the week. We made two nice arrests for auto theft using the cameras and tag readers.
Hang in there. I am starting to hear some positive news on the virus. Hopefully we will be able to return to somewhat normal life in the near future. Please continue to social distance, be patient and kind.

Captain Todd Baer

PBSO District 14 - Covid 19 Update
A few quick updates on Covid 19 from your local PBSO District:
Crime was up again last week. Auto burglaries were the main issue with 12. They were in all parts of the city with the common denominator being close proximity to Dixie Highway. 8 of the 12 were unlocked. Please remind your friends and neighbors that locked and void of valuables is the best method. Either way don’t leave valuables inside. A variety of items were taken but thankfully no firearms. We also had three stabbings. All suspects were known by the victims and two of the three refused to press charges.
The food distributions at the CRA Hatch Center continue to go well. I believe they gave food to 800 families today. They are scheduled for the next two Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. or until they run out of food. A few quick observations on this:
· You must receive a voucher from the volunteers handing them out that morning. The volunteers walk right down the line car by car. They use vouchers so they know how much food they have. If you cut the line you won’t get a voucher and will be told to leave. We had to tell several people to leave this morning. This is fair and ensures no one waits in line only to receive nothing due to running out of food.
· You must line up in the left lane of Lake Avenue. This week the line stretched from the CRA building to Congress Ave at its peak. It moves quickly but it takes time to donate food to 800 cars.
· Be patient – the people working are volunteers. This is a wonderful event put on by remarkable people
The predicted peak date for Covid 19 cases in Palm Beach County has shifted from April 27th to May 3rd. We are doing a good job with social distancing and adhering to all of the special orders. We have to keep going a while longer.
Remember that PBC Special Order 4 “urges” all to wear a mask or other face covering when social distancing is not possible, i.e. going grocery shopping.
My quarterly commission presentation is still scheduled for the May 5th meeting. It will likely still be a virtual meeting by then.
Hopefully we are almost through this and will be returning to some semblance of normal life soon. I miss my sports. The Hallmark Channel has been on at my house way too much. I am outnumbered at home.
We can do this!

PBSO District 14 - Lake Worth Beach - Covid 19 Update
A couple quick updates from today:
· While assisting with the food giveaway at the CRA Hatch Center, a call of an armed burglary was dispatched nearby (4th Ave North and North F Street). A suspect tried to break into two separate houses while armed with a knife. The suspect fled on foot from the deputies. A perimeter was established and K9 responded. The suspect was caught by the dog a few minutes later.
· Last week in Lake Worth Beach HANDGUN’S were stolen from two different vehicles. Both vehicles were left unlocked. PLEASE remove all valuables and particularly firearms from your vehicles. With this crisis there has been an uptick in criminals checking for unlocked vehicle doors. Those two handguns are now in the hands of criminals and may be used against a resident or deputy.
Be safe,
