Magistrate: Riviera owes $6,700, not $270,000, for floating...

Fane Lozman hears a recommendation from a magistrate about being compensated for losing his home at the hands of the city of Riviera Beach. He is not happy with the amount. This recommendation will eventually be heard by a judge. IF he fails, then he may end up back at the Supreme Court. Mr. Lozman has been a frequent guest on High Noon in Lake Worth. For those and other reasons, Magistrate Lurana Snow is recommending that the city of Riviera Beach should pay Fane Lozman $7,500 for his former home — roughly $260,000 less than the former Marine is seeking.
In a rare win for the city in its years-long legal battle with the self-made millionaire, Snow rejected Lozman’s request to force Riviera Beach to pay him $267,000 for his floating home and other expenses he incurred after it seized the home from the city marina in 2009. The city purchased it at auction for $4,100 and ultimately had it destroyed.
