In my High Noon in Lake Worth show this past Friday with Fane Lozman, we talked about the inadequacies of the Inspector General's office and how the lack of funds impacts the agency's ability to do its job, especially as it relates to the municipalities in Palm Beach County. For now, the County has decided to make up the budget shortfall caused by the uncooperative cities (Lake Worth is not one to my knowledge). Click title for link. From the article:
Commissioners deserve credit for stepping in to ensure that Inspector General Sheryl Steckler did not have to fire any of her staff. She had warned commissioners that, without the extra money, nine layoffs were likely. This would have been a tremendous blow to the county’s ethics reform efforts.
