Raise our prices even more for our non working meters and send the beach goers to Lantana. It will help those poor folks. This will illustrate our wonderful marketing process-we don't want John G's to fail.there will be another election coming up for SUZY.
My neighbor lady works in a nail salon close by and if they shut down the bridge the shop will lose tons of customers and possibly go under...
And the town is throwing a party?
I went to the Lantana Town Council meeting last night. Wow, what a difference between their meeting and ours. The meeting started at 7 PM and was over at 8:55 PM. They even invited me to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. They say they do that for visitors from LW every since CJ visited one of their meetings a couple of years ago. Public comment is at the end of the meeting too.
Is that display of neighborliness born out of sympathy?
reading the newspaper which has a starfish on it is how I found out about the closing. So what are the alternatives, thats what the article with illustration of where the next access points are. All the alternatives they recommended were south even though Lake Worth is much closer.
@amwh: That's an odd interpretation of the single sentence written in the piece...
"The 30 or so businesses lining Ocean Avenue west of the bridge will be cut off from coastal residents who will drive north to Lake Worth or south to Boynton Beach for their needs."
The map illustrates the alternatives without comment, 2.8 miles to Lake Worth, 4 miles to Boynton.
There was this, though: "Merchants in the Plaza del Mar shopping center east of the bridge fear losing mainland customers."
In a perverse twist of construction headaches, John G's will be affected. Their demographic might be dedicated enough to make the drive either direction, so be careful in morning traffic for the next coupla years, y'all.

It's sad the Lantana bridge will be closed, but it's really a short drive, and a nice one, to get where you need to go via Lake Worth Bridge. It is a boon for Lake Worth that extra people will be driving through town, and I hope we remain as welcoming as we always are to the new visitors, and maybe encourage them to stop by on their journey...
The congestion on Lake & Lucerne will be ridiculous. This is where having 2 way streets adjacent to L & L would have been incredibly helpful in alleviating some this. Spending the money now to make 2nd Ave. N 2-way from A St. to Federal just makes sense. Lantana drivers will want to stop at Publix on their way home and 2nd Ave north is a great access point that won't cause a left turn lane to back-up. The expression "penny-wise and pound foolish" comes to mind.
So does the phrase bloomin idiots.
I wonder if the 10 PBSO cops will be waiting at the foot of the LW bridge to pull them over like last Sat.
While I am all for slowing people down on our streets it seemed like a major bummer to me to be pulling over car, after car, on a beautiful Sat. I assume many were heading to our beach or our Green Market. And many had out of state tags too.
Welcome to LW here is your speeding ticket, enjoy the green market.
