Another clarification needed: Report published in Palm Beach Post last week.

Plus more information
“Worth Noting”.

See that clarification below about the Lake Worth Playhouse in Downtown Lake Worth. Also worth noting is today marks one year five months and one day since the Post editorial board chimed in about this City. For some perspective that editorial was prior to Hurricane Irma in September 2017. And just by coincidence, two months later the paper was put up For-Sale to the highest bidder.

Enter GateHouse Media six months later.

Now moving on. . .

Anytime now a feature news story about the merge between PBSO and the former City of Greenacres PD will be published in The Palm Beach Post. The three-year anniversary of the merge is coming up soon. If  you recall, late last year the City of Lake Worth celebrated its ten-year partnership with PBSO.

Although Greenacres is not holding elections in March this will be information worth noting for other cities, towns and villages here in Central Palm Beach County.

And for those of you unaware, just a reminder, as of May 1st last year GateHouse Media is new publisher of the Post. And also recently many in the public were caught by surprise when they learned the Sun Sentinel in Broward County is the publisher of the Post print edition.

And as noted in yesterday’s print edition of The Palm Beach Post, very big news from George Bennett, the new Supervisor of Elections is Wendy Sartory Link and her name has officially replaced Susan Bucher. And also worth noting in the paper yesterday, the editor(s) are getting way to loose using the word “plague” once again.

The clarification needed in the paper is about an upcoming event at the Lake Worth Playhouse.

And also about the Playhouse no news at all has been reported in the Post about the annual newsworthy candidate forum at the Lake Worth Playhouse or that Mayor Pam Triolo’s State of the City Address has been scheduled. If news like a major candidate forum or a state of the city address happened in West Palm or Wellington is would be front page news.

But in ‘Good Ole Lake Worth’ this information goes unreported. It makes you wonder sometimes if GateHouse Media is just an absentee owner and really even cares about the Post at all.

Last Wednesday, this is a scene from
the stage at the Lake Worth Playhouse.

Worth Noting: To learn more about this event click on this link and about the upcoming elections and two referendums to be held on March 12th.

FYI: One can get a real good idea how things stand heading into the March elections by looking over the candidate campaign treasurer reports. For example, one can get a good idea who was late in making the decision to run vs. the candidates who jumped on stage a long time ago.

Now to the clarification needed in the Post.

It was about a “Spring Break Camp” in Downtown Lake Worth.

If you are a fan of Broadway musicals there was an item you’ll want to know about. But the editor(s) just left out one important piece of information: the location. Oooops.

This is not a reporter error. This is an editor(s) error; they are not fact-checking news properly. This was published in last Monday’s print edition in the forever weekly Lake Worth Very Very Special Monday Collector Print Edition (LWVVSMCPE) about a “[M]usical theater camp composed of Broadway songs.”

The location for this camp was not cited in the paper. Was the public just left to guess? This event will be held the week of March 18th–22nd and is being held at the Lake Worth Playhouse!

Click on this link for contact information. Here is an excerpt from last week’s news:

Tuition is $200 and $180 for a sibling. The camp will be a musical theater camp composed of Broadway songs. Discounts are offered for returning winter break campers.

FYI: There is plenty of FREE parking in the Downtown, however, if unfortunately you do accumulate three or more parking tickets you will get “The Boot!”

Now let’s move on.

A question: Is the Playhouse haunted?

One long-time resident of this City has some very strong opinions about that. Learn more below.

Lake Worth Playhouse:

Is this famous venue haunted? Decide for yourself. That is one of the questions explored by South Florida PBS with local docent Helen Greene. To learn more please click on this link.

Worth Noting:

“The Lake Worth Playhouse occupies the former Oakley Theatre, the oldest building on the register of the Art Deco Society of Palm Beach County. It was constructed by Lucien and Clarence Oakley, two brothers who came to South Florida from Illinois on the wave of a movie mania sweeping the country in the early 1920s. Their dream was to build a movie palace and vaudeville house.
