West Palm Beach elections: Time is running out to get your name on the March 12th, 2019 ballot.


To run for mayor or one of three (3) commission seats in West Palm Beach the deadline is November 30th.

However, including today, there are only ten (10) business days left. The reason why is due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The WPB City Clerk’s office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22nd and Friday, Nov. 23rd.

NOTICE OF ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF QUALIFYING


Pursuant to Section 30-2 of the City of West Palm Beach Code of Ordinances.


The City of West Palm Beach will hold a General Municipal Election on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, and Run-off Election, if necessary, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing a Mayor and three City Commission seats [emphasis added]: one in District 3 if the current District 3 Commissioner has submitted a written resignation at least 10 days prior to the first day of qualifying as provided in Section 99.012, Florida Statutes, one in District 2, and one in District 4. Persons seeking election may qualify using the Alternative Method by petitions with the City Clerk beginning at noon on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, and ending at noon on Thursday, November 30, 2018. Qualifying is held during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

All persons seeking election as Mayor shall be a qualified elector of the City and may reside in any district within the City. All persons seeking election as a City Commissioner shall be a qualified elector of the City and shall be a resident of the district from which he or she is to be elected. A candidate for the office of Mayor shall have continuously resided in the City during the six-month period immediately prior to the date of election. A candidate for the office of City Commissioner shall have continuously resided during the six-month period immediately prior to the date of election in the respective district from which the candidate seeks to qualify for election. The Mayor and City Commissioners are elected at-large on a nonpartisan basis by a citywide vote.

City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 22, 2018 and Friday, November 23, 2018 due to Thanksgiving. City Hall will reopen on Monday, November 26, 2018.
