The strangest thing. . . Inexplicable. Peculiar. Baffling. Odd. Bewildering. Perplexing. Labyrinthine. Mystifying. Abstruse.

But first, yes, abstruse is a word. Used in a sentence from the novel titled, The Adventures of Sally, “It was as if a child had suddenly propounded to an eminent mathematician some abstruse problem in the higher algebra.” Anyhow, the strangest thing. . .

The information below first posted on January 28th, over 3 weeks ago, remains one of the most-viewed and drawing tons of blog traffic. Why? Draw your own conclusions. However, the clue may be use of the word “another” in the news report below.

News from WFTV: “Titusville water reclamation facility responsible for sewage spill into Indian River lagoon”*:

TITUSVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is investigating another spill into the fragile Indian River Lagoon. [emphasis added]
     The city’s water reclamation facility pumped raw sewage into the water for more than a day.

[and. . .]

     Residents more than a mile away could smell the pollution.
     The Florida Department of Environmental Protection said there are several factors that determine if a fine will be assessed, such as how serious the violation is and if the release was beyond the control of the polluting facility.
