Curious how Cara and Laurel convince so many disparate groups, middle class, black, Haitian, Cuban, and Latino to vote against their own interests. Jobs, development, a FUTURE. How do they do that? How do the "Yes" people convince the poorest and most disadvantaged to align with the most privileged, those most unlikely to align with the "disadvantaged" but those very unfortunate citizens blindly, like lemmings, supply the most votes to protect the most fortunate? How on earth would a Black, Haitian or Latino vote "Yes"? They would be voting against their own interests, but they do it over and over again. Why? How does one get a young, black, aspiring man to fight, as long as the day, for a fortunate bum like Lawrence McNamara? Why would a hard-working latino woman fight for Laurel Dekker? How is that possible? Answer that and the bus will be taking Cara and Peter out of this this city forever.
"How is that possible", you ask? Very easy. With outright LIES, vicious and anonymous personal attacks against people who fight against those LIES. And let's not forget the intimidation factor of trying to get people fired from their jobs; using personal health information to humiliate anyone who opposes them, threatening boycotts against local businesses who support their opposition, accusing an elected representative of being a NAZI and the list goes on and on and on and has gone on for too damn long! And why not? As long as so few people are willing to risk the abuse they will surely suffer for CHALLENGING their lies, they WIN.
You ask how it's possible that people with the most to lose by supporting them continue to do so? That's easy too. Make people afraid, very afraid, and watch how fast they run to ANYONE who offers shelter - even if that mean running right straight into the mouth of the monster.
