It's still under public comment right now on the beach. The motion on the floor, made by Commissioner Jennings, is to present two plans to the County Commission: one with less parking than the County requires for the $5 million and one with more than the County requires. They want to push the concept with the County to allow us to maintain decal permits for our residents. People are angry.

Mulvehill asked that Commissioner Jennings go as a representative of the City to talk to the County Commissioners. They had talked about going as a group. but that was thought too complicated due to the Sunshine law, etc.

The Mayor is concerned that we are asking for special treatment and we won't be seen favorably by the County. He doesn't like either plan. Golden is voting for it.

Golden went to the PBC Commissioners individually to ask for a renegotiation of the water contract. She was told politely to set up a meeting with staff. When Golden pressed to ask for support in terminating or modifying the agreement she got the same response---set up a meeting with staff. It took us a month to get staff to agree to meet with us. That was in July. Maybe the lack of progress had something to do with PBC spending staff time and taxpayer dollars to fulfill a contract that our current city commission majority has unilaterally defaulted on to the tune of $6,000,000.

Now the PBC Commissioners will be treated to Jennings trying to explain to them that our 36 month Interlocal Agreement on the $5,000,000 Beach Grant will not meet the October 19 deadline for completion----and by the way, we haven’t decided what we want to do yet. There are a couple of provisions in the agreement that we don’t like and we have a couple of site plans we would like you to look at. By the way, we need an extension on the Agreement.

Is it possible that the County Commissioners will not be entirely receptive to our latest in a long list of walking away or unilaterally terminating our contractual obligations?
